How does a Pelesim eSIM work?
You pick a plan and get your eSIM instantly. On most recent phones you install it with one tap straight from your order page - no QR code needed - or scan the included QR code instead. Either way it takes about two minutes with an internet connection, and your data is ready when you arrive.
Can I install my eSIM before I travel?
Yes. Every plan Pelesim currently sells starts on first connection at your destination, so you can install it before you travel. Installing the eSIM does not start your plan or void the refund window.
When does my plan start counting?
Your plan starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network at your destination, not when you install it. You can set it up while connected to the internet before you leave and turn it on when you arrive.
Will my physical SIM still work?
Yes. Your physical SIM stays in your phone and keeps handling calls and texts, so WhatsApp and your number keep working while the eSIM handles your travel data.
What phones support eSIM?
Recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel models all support eSIM, as long as the phone is carrier-unlocked. Look up your exact model on our supported devices page before you buy - it takes under a minute.
Can I use my eSIM as a hotspot?
Yes. Share your data with a laptop or travel companions through your phone's personal hotspot. Tethering uses your plan data faster, so size up if you plan to hotspot a lot - our data calculator can help you pick.
Do I need to scan a QR code?
Usually not. If you open your order page or My eSIMs on the phone you're installing on, supported iPhones and Androids show a direct install button - one tap and you're done, which is the easiest way. A QR code and manual activation details are always included too, so you can scan from another screen or type the details in by hand.
What happens when my data runs out?
Your data simply stops - there are no overage charges or surprise fees. Track your remaining data in your Pelesim dashboard, and when you need more, top up the same eSIM in a few taps on most plans or buy a new plan anytime.
What if I delete my eSIM or switch phones?
Keep the eSIM installed until your trip ends - most travel eSIMs can't be instantly reissued after deletion, and moving one to a new phone isn't automatic. If you've deleted it or changed phones, contact support and we'll help you get reconnected.
What happens if I need help while traveling?
Our support team helps with installation, activation, and connection issues while you travel. And if you haven't activated the eSIM, you get a full refund within 7 days of purchase.
